Your new place has a pre-existing home security system
Many times after you purchase a new house, you’ll notice that the old owners left a smart home system. All the components function well, are hung in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this example, all you might have to do is to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to ensure there are no integration issues, and they may offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a quick visit, and you can have your monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you add on.
The previous owners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal set-up cost to make the transfer simpler. If the previous owners downsize to a condo or retirement community, you keeping the home security service might be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your home security components with you
You may want to take your favorite Vivint system with you to your new house when you move. That’s fairly easy to accomplish, as most smart devices are wireless. You can uninstall each device yourself or call a Vivint installer to come and take down everything. Then a pro will hang the same components -- and any new items you want -- in your new place. The home security contract will remain the same.
